Sorry Records is thrilled to announce the debut release from the loose collective of Chicago musicians called John Lau. The unique product of live instrumentation, studio mutations, and fluid collaboration, John Lau is a thrilling and unique statement equally suited for the club and the walk home after.

Formulated over the course of several lengthy studio sessions, John Lau’s introductory statement is the product of a unique synthesis of skilled live instrumentation, warped studio manipulations, and carefully assembled edits. The inspired final product is marked by swells of indecipherable vocals, hair raising leftfield club elements, and a wholly unique juxtaposition of natural and synthetic sound.

Littered with noteworthy moments of sonic bliss from the arresting groove of “Serum” to the menacing swell of “Shy” and the cathartic guitar denouement of “Bleed,” the collective has created wholely their own. Refreshing yet warm, equally rooted in seductive groove and honest emotion, John Lau EP is a profound introductory statement from a collective to watch.
